Jello

Setup:

We used a previously built BB gun setup to shoot our jello.  The setup holds a BB gun pointed straight down vertically in a wooden frame.  There is about 3.5 feet from the end of the barrel of the gun to the floor.  We covered the three sides of the wooden frame and the floor with black poster board; this was to reduce any reflection caused by the flash of light.  Under the barrel of the gun, was a cardboard box covering a large can filled with sand; this sand was where the BB landed.  We placed a ring stand with an attached clamp next to the cardboard box.  To examine the path of the BB we used a piece of string and positioned it from the bottom of the barrel of the gun. We positioned the jello cubes on top of the clamp.  We positioned the jello on the clamp, so the BB would make contact with the center of the cube of jello.  We used 500 RWS bullets.

 Hypothesis:

Our hypothesis contains two aspects. The first is the investigation of what the bullet does to the egg  and the second, is does this happen upon entry or exit of the egg. Here are the hypothesis we came up with.

  1. The bullet will go straight through the jello having no explosion type effect.

  2. The jello will explode upon the bullet's entry.

  3. The jello will explode upon the bullet's exit.
