EGGS

Setup

We used a previously built BB gun setup to shoot our eggs.  The setup holds a BB gun pointed straight down vertically in a wooden frame.  There is about 3.5 feet from the end of the barrel of the gun to the floor.  We covered the three sides of the wooden frame and the floor with black poster board; this was to reduce any reflection caused by the flash of light.  Under the barrel of the gun, was a cardboard box covering a large can filled with sand; this sand was where the BB landed.  We placed a ring stand with an attached clamp next to the cardboard box.  We positioned the egg vertically inside the clamp.  To examine the path of the BB we used a piece of string and positioned it from the bottom of the barrel of the gun.  We positioned the egg in the clamp, so the BB would make contact with the center of the egg.  We used 500 RWS bullets.

Hypothesis:-

Our hypothesis contains two aspects. The first is the investigation of what the bullet does to the egg  and the second, is does this happen upon entry or exit of the egg. Here are the hypothesis we came up with.

  1. Bullet will go straight through the egg and there is no explosion type effect.

  2. When the bullet enters the egg there will be and explosion type effect.

  3.  There will be a visible hole on the top of the egg as the bullet enters, and as the bullets exits the egg, then there will be an explosive type effect.
