We set up our flashes perpendicular to the line of sight of the camera so the background would reflect as little light as possible. Using the Multiplexer program on the Apple II + computer we set up eight flashes to go off with a certain interval time. When we hit the drum a sound trigger picked up the sound and set off the eight flashes. Each flash was covered with a different color filter in order to track the movement of the hole punch bits across the field of view of the camera. We experimented with different arrangements of hole punch bits ranging from randomly placed to oranganized patterns.
